Personal Training

At Zen Fitness, we see personal training as much more than a series of one-on-one sessions that teach you how to exercise properly. We see personal training as a “whole health” strategy that engages your mind, body and emotions to create new life patterns based on exercise and knowledge about how your body works and what it needs to maintain optimal well-being. We are results-driven which means that we begin with a full assessment of your needs, and then set up a multi-dimensional program that will take you through the successive steps required to get the results you desire.

Our Approach

We use a three level approach to training because we recognize that everyone begins at their own level of fitness and has specific needs they would like to address, as well as results they would like to achieve. Depending on your fitness assessment with one of our Personal Trainers, you may enter at Level 2 if you have already accomplished the goals outlined in Level 1.

Level 1

It is important to establish a base level of conditioning, particularly if you have not exercised in awhile, struggle with weight issues, or are generally out of shape. By working on basic exercises with a stronger focus on cardio, we begin to condition your body for more intensive physical training in the successive levels.

Level 2

Once base conditioning has been accomplished, your body is ready to move on to more advanced exercise routines that focus on various muscle groups, sculpting, strengthening and increasing cardio-vascular functioning. Individual training goals will be more refined at this level, and your Trainer will introduce new exercises with increasing use of resistance to enhance fat burning.

Level 3

Results are great, but equally important is maintaining what has been accomplished and setting habits that are a regular part of daily life. Level 3 is concerned with helping you create long-term exercise habits that you can maintain to promote ongoing health and well-being. This is the more “mental” aspect of training. We want you to have a knowledge base of how your body works and what kinds of exercise you require to maintain your results.
